We're thrilled to be hosting Prairie Prince at KAABOO 2017 as both a musical performer (he's the drummer for The Tubes) and as an exhibiting artist in ARTWORK. We recently sat down with Prairie to discuss his creative influences and inspiration.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for an incredible KAABOO 2016. With the memories still fresh in our hearts, we have so much to look forward to. We are already back at it – planning your ultimate weekend escape for next year. We hope you’ll be there with us September 15-17, 2017.

While it’s still early in our planning process, here are some of the anticipated changes that you can expect come 2017:

All hail the ultimate “mix-perience”! The stacked lineup of incredible music, delectable cuisine, inspiring contemporary art, hilarious comedy, luxury spa indulgences, and the very best craft libations over the three day weekend in September took “festival life” to the next level, exceeding expectations.

During KAABOO, random guests were asked to take a quick survey to share their experience and feedback. We are excited to share the results with you.

KAABOO 16 is now behind us and we’re already gearing up for 2017. In the meantime, however, we’re walking down memory lane with some of the top moments from this year’s MIX-perience, in no particular order.

Our friends over at Ranch and Coast magazine have assembled a go-to guide for fashionistas ready to rock the KAABOO mix-perience in style. Jackelyn McIntosh of Matti D favors an elevated rocker chic look with a ’90s twist, while Rochelle Johnson of TRE Boutique envisions an “easy, sexy, sophisticated look.” No matter your preference, their selections are sure to dazzle from day to night.

Here are a few sneak peeks at their looks:

You’ve purchased your passes, received your wristbands in the mail, and NOW it’s time for the ever-important wardrobe selection process. It’s a thing. We know. Since the list of acts is wide and varied, we’ve curated a few headliner-inspired looks to aid in your big decision on what duds to wear to the best weekend of 2016.

Though there will be plenty of shady spots to hang at KAABOO, you will most likely be spending a lot of time in the sun. To save your skin at KAABOO, and to keep from like a Salvador Dali painting, Colorescience® has you covered by making makeup and sun-protection simple. If you’ve made the life-changing decision to attend KAABOO Del Mar this year, you’ll be receiving a pretty exciting package in the mail shortly (if you haven’t purchased your passes yet, what are you waiting for?!). In the package will be your KAABOO wristband, which is your entrance pass to KAABOO, and therefore, gold.

Here are some hints as to what to do and what NOT to do with your wristband when it arrives which will hopefully answer all of your wristband questions.

On Friday, September 18, 2015, the inaugural KAABOO Del Mar kicked off with Snoop Dog dropping it like it was hot, No Doubt crushing it Hella Good, and two music-loving, unsuspecting strangers who had no idea that beyond the dancing crowds, fate was fast at work.

Those two strangers were Jessica Fox and Joel Lee who attended KAABOO 2015 separate and single but will be attending KAABOO 16 as soon-to-be husband and wife. Yes, just six months after meeting each other under the fiery Del Mar sun at KAABOO’s Mercedes-Benz Sunset Cliffs Stage, Joel put a ring on it, and KAABOO has its first match made in music.

We interviewed the bride-to-be about that fate-filled weekend in September.

San Diego is certainly able to tout some of the best Mexican food in the county, but there is also a pretty happen’ burger game going on too. To help narrow down your selection, we’ve listed our top picks for Best Burgers in San Diego. So, whether you’re a local San Diegan or you’re coming to town especially for a KAABOO-cation in September, hop on down to one of these favorite local hot spots to grab a cheeseburger in paradise.

The perfect compliment to a hot summer’s day is a fresh, cool cocktail. Here are some delish cocktail recipes from our KAABOO partners to help wet your palate and elevate your summer soiree to the next level. Add the KAABOO Del Mar Mixtape on Pandora in the background and you’ll be ready to rock.

The legendary duo Daryl Hall & John Oates will be rocking the KAABOO stage in September with their hits like Maneater, I Can’t Go For That, and Kiss on My List. In a virtual interview with John Oates, we learned about his new book, his outdoorsy side and what KAABOO guests can expect from their performance at #KAABOO16.

Last week we caught up with soulful performer and friend of KAABOO, Donavon Frankenreiter, in between his tour dates, to chat about surfing in San Diego.

For San Diego locals who have been around awhile, you’ll know it fondly as the Del Mar Fair, but now it’s the San Diego County Fair and this year it’s gone mad with a clever Alice in Wonderland theme. Here are our picks for Things to Do at the San Diego County Fair this year.

Our HANG TEN passes have sold out, but it’s not too late to AMPLIFY your KAABOO experience with a HANG FIVE pass. Here are five reasons you’ll want to HANG FIVE at KAABOO.

As an elevated “mix-perience” that includes great live bands, fine art galleries and live art, gourmet food and craft beer – and real bathrooms – people often ask us what a day at KAABOO feels like. The KAABOO Experience goes so far beyond a typical music event vibe. It is indulgent, high-class entertainment in the beautiful seaside town of Del Mar, California.

Below, we walk you through a sample day of enjoyment at KAABOO. It’s like an entire summer of fun packed into one incredible weekend:

In a recent episode of Louis C.K.’s sitcom, “Louis”, a club owner tells him “don’t put two girls together” in the lineup for a comedy open mic night. Louis raises his eyebrows and ends up scheduling two women in a row anyway.

We applaud his reaction in that scene, because some incredibly funny women are creating some of the best comedy out there. We’d be thrilled to see them all together.

Marie Claire magazine issued a list of the “50 Funniest Women” and called them “all equally, ridiculously brilliant…reigning queens of comedy.” That list highlights hilarious women who grace screen and stage alike with their biting wit, comedic social commentary and even comedy-action mashups.

Last month, The Chicago Tribune ran a great piece debunking the ignorant question about whether women are as funny as men....

KAABOO’s commitment to the visual arts is evident to anyone who’s stepped into Artwork, our onsite contemporary art fair; or strolled down KAABOOlevard to see the large-scale, live art exhibitions and murals; or witnessed the work of the various KAABOO-sponsored artists at events around North America. Indeed, KAABOO art is everywhere. And in some ways, that commitment to visual art emerged as early as the KAABOO concept itself, as evidenced by the creation of the original KAABOO logo by artist Lisa Wright.

“KAABOO provides a unique creative experience that is full of discovery. To capture this spirit, I decided to experiment with physical artistic media,” says Wright.

Graffiti has moved from dark back alleys to the front pages of respected travel magazines.

Once a sign of crime or protest, tagging a public space with spray paint has now become a celebrated art form. People are adding street art tours to their list of vacation must-sees, and Conde Nast Traveler listed 17 of the top street art cities in this piece from fall 2015. Travel + Leisure and National Geographic, among many others, have also covered street art as a growing attraction in several global destinations.

Andrew will be performing at KAABOO Del Mar, September 16-18, 2016 at the Del Mar Racetrack. See this tune live, along with other hits like Cecilia and the Satellite. If you haven’t seen this band perform before, you won’t want to miss it. Passes available now!

One of last year’s KAABOO headliners, Zac Brown Band, covered the poignant elegy, “Dress Blues,” by KAABOO2016 artist Jason Isbell. Zac and the band put their own twist on a song with deep personal meaning for Zac. In this KAABOO connection, listen to both versions, equally powerful in their own ways.

Just in time for Christmas, this new duet with LeAnn Rimes and KAABOO 2016 FIRST WAVE artist Gavin DeGraw, covering Kenny Loggins’s “Celebrate Me Home.” Appears on Rimes’s album “Today Is Christmas,” out now.

Are you having a Blue Christmas? Well, here’s a California Christmastime message from KAABOO 2016 comedian Rachel Bloom, star of the Golden Globe-nominated “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.” Specially designed to pick you up and make you say, “What the …?” Happy holidays, KAABOO nation! Enjoy.

KAABOO artists have been building something big—really big. Work has begun on the large-scale murals that enhance the scene at KAABOO this September. Six different artists will contribute to the mural over the next two weeks, working in two-person teams for four days at a time. Currently, the murals are hanging from the side of the Holiday Inn on 8th Street in San Francisco, between Market and Mission. Once complete, the murals will be disassembled, transported to Del Mar for KAABOO, and reassembled for your viewing pleasure. To get a little sneak preview, check out our new Instagram account that’s focused solely on KAABOO Artwork: To see the big reveal, join us at KAABOO on September 18!

You can see Brett Dennen live at KAABOO on September 18. Until then, here’s a little preview:

How ’bout a little Friday fun with Fitz and the Tantrums? These guys are incredible, high-energy live performers. They earned their place among music’s top acts by working hard and earning their fans one at a time by playing lots and LOTS of live gigs. That hard work paid off, and now they’re wowing thousands of fans at a time at major events like KAABOO. When we saw them, we had to have them as part of the KAABOO lineup. Don’t miss ’em when they bring all that energy to KAABOO on Friday, Sept. 18.

We get it. Festival food can be a guilty pleasure. Who hasn’t enjoyed a good funnel cake or the occasional corn dog every now and then? But maybe you’re looking for something more sophisticated at your next weekend outing. After all, you’re spending your precious time and money at an event. Why not have a full-featured experience that includes not only sights and sounds, but tastes as well?

That’s why we created Palate, an upscale eatery built right into KAABOO Del Mar, featuring world-renowned chefs and culinary delights from some of the nation’s top restaurants. Sure, you could have another slice of limp pizza that’s been sitting under a heat lamp for five hours, or you could devour some fresh ceviche with a side of local, organic vegetables, washed down with a hand-crafted cocktail mixed up with artisan tequila. The choice is up to you to build your perfect weekend based on your tastes, and that’s what KAABOO is all about.

Curious about who’s serving up this fine far at KAABOO?...

What song by a KAABOO artist played on an episode of MTV’s Real World Brooklyn? It had teen angst, heartbreak, redemption – all wrapped up in some ‘Texas Tea” by The Jakes, now known as Young the Giant, who will be performing at KAABOO Del Mar on Saturday, September 19, 2015. Don’t miss them or these other great acts.
